The Result
As the VP of Corporate Communications at Flock Freight, Inc. from July 2023 to May 2024, I played a pivotal role in advising the CEO and guiding the company through challenging periods, including four RIF events and organizational crises. I collaborated with media and organizational stakeholders, counseled the ELT, and significantly improved message effectiveness by refining communications and presentations for major events. I was responsible for writing biweekly all-hands communications and internal messages for the CHRO and CEO, broadcast via Slack and email. I implemented rigorous company policies to ensure transparency and mitigate misinformation, published the first Messaging Manual to build brand consistency, and launched an internal communications program that boosted employee engagement and increased the company’s eSAT score by 15%. Additionally, I exceeded quarterly media coverage year-over-year by 25%, revitalizing relationships with trade reporters.
In my previous role as Vice President of Brand & Communications from July 2022 to June 2023, I oversaw internal, external, crisis, and HR communications, social media, and brand experience, leading a team of five. I won a 2023 Cannes Lion for a B2B campaign directed by Maximum Effort, where I provided expertise for the script, selected talent, and played an integral role in the production and distribution process. I wrote the company’s first message manual, which was distributed and learned by over 800 employees and utilized across various departments. I also built Flock’s brand guidelines and messaging to complement the corporate communications messaging manual. An example of the brand work I accomplished can be seen in the Adweek article here.
